favicon not updating.

about a month ago, a finished building a website that was to replace the current wordpress website. I added the header that linked to the favicon location. The favicon is still not updating on the website. It still shows the wordpress favicon. I have checked the filepath, its fine. Ive tried using several different browsers, other devices, clearing cache, etc. thats not the problem.
Any ideas?

can you share the file structure and how you integrated the icon. Also share if you using app router or pages router

this somehow made the wordpress favicon go away but now there just no favicon

@Sloughi had the same issue, just rename favicon.ico to icon.ico, not sure why it works but it should fix it in production - at least it did for me.

then force reload when you visit the production page

is the ico a valid ico file?

how do i check that

download a different .ico file and try using it, if it works then you know your ico file is bad
here's a random one I grabbed from https://www.iconarchive.com/show/blue-crystal-icons-by-lgp85/My-Documents-icon.html
if you download from the website just make sure its .ico format don't download as png and rename it

i also dont get why its still showing the wordpress one. the domain has been fully disconnected from wordpress for a month

the one i was using was a png and i used website converter
but i just tried the one linked above and it doesnt work either
downloaded as .ico
You need to remove favicon from public also
You can only have one favicon file in your project

check on a different browser or try clearing your cookies, could just be your browser
@Sloughi tried favicon.ico and icon.ico
Put your favicon.ico in your app folder (only one favicon) go in your browser. Press F12, go in your network tab check the box „disable cache“ and reload the page. Now the correct favicon will be visible

Can you create a minimal repro so we can look though all the code. It should have the same issue that you are currently facing @Sloughi

As you can see the favicon is fine. He also tried to push it on vercel and there it’s shows too. Only on netlify it’s not visible yet
