Hi, just read https://nextjs.org/support-policy and wanted some clarity. It states “Each major version will remain in Maintenance LTS for two years following the initial release.”. The table of supported versions then shows October 26,2023 for the release date of Next 14.x. Does this mean 14.x will no longer be supported as of October 27, 2025?
What is causing confusion is the 2 year support usage of “following initial release” seems to be tied to when 14.x became active LTS rather than when it transitioned from active LTS to maintenance LTS.
This seems somewhat odd since the amount of time you have to update off of a version varies. Let’s say Next 16 is released on October 21, 2026. This means Next 15.x would be immediately unsupported and won’t even enter maintenance LTS. I guess this would also imply that NextJS is pretty confident that NextJS will release a new major at least every 2 years (judging by history there seems to be a new major at least every year).
