Following the dashboard tutorial, authentication section broke the app?

Ive been following the tutorial exactly and everything was working. Upon getting the login form working and logging in I was met with blown up versions of the icons, and the dashboard was not readable/invoices werent loaded. I am wondering why this would have happened if i never touched the layout.tsx or page.tsx for those pages so im not sure why that would be happening.
also i get this warning: [env-url-basepath-redundant] and when I read more about it it tells me I need to "remove the authConfig.basePath configuration, or remove the pathname of AUTH_URL (or NEXTAUTH_URL). Only one of them is needed." but i only see AUTH_URL in my .env, i dont know where authConfig.basePath would be
any advice is appreciated.

i have found that commenting out the redirect on line 15 here "fixes" the issue of the UI being all messed up, but it doesnt get rid of the too many redirects issue

I think line 15 shouldn't be commented out. If user is logged in, it makes sense that app is redirected to dashboard page. I also met with
basepath-redundant problem, did you solve it ?
