Should I do this. Last I read it was waiting on React release? Be keen to have my app be the sane version as my nodejs?

eslint-config-next only supports up to eslint 8 at the moment, so you have to use eslint 8 (latest version: 8.57.0)

I've seen it's possible though?

[eslint-config-next only supports up to eslint v8](https://github.com/vercel/next.js/blob/f0abeb8e42f723e515f93e0062ebf0a78df52765/packages/eslint-config-next/package.json#L25). i don't make the rules.
if you try to use it with eslint v9 anyway, it might work, it might not. nothing guarantees it works and you are on your own.
