Fresh install doesn't work

I have installed next with create-next-app@latest.
I then run 'npm run dev'.
The browser shows the boilerplate for a moment then crashes.
Looking at the VS terminal, I see a whole bunch of webpack issues? I have the latest version of node installed. Disabled any chrome plugins. I'm stumped.
Coming from Remix, trying out Next. Not a great experience so far

It works on my C:/ drive and not my D:/ Drive? Anyone have a fix for this?
