Anyone know if Next.js' api is "good" enough to serve multiple consumers (not just the frontend)?

Nothing wrong with external api, if you are more comfortable with it go for it
Nextjs api by itself is good, but that is subjective and usually requires some boilerplate to make it follow a structure the developer prefers
